Due to COVID-19, when travelling to Egypt,  there are a number of changes to travel, that everyone must be aware of and comply with.  To help with your travel planning we have pulled together the following information.  If you have any further questions, please speak directly with a member of our team.

Before you Travel

Insurance

It is a requirement of the Egyptian Government that all travelers have proof of travel insurance to include coverage for the treatment of Covid-19 to enter the country.  Due to Covid-19, as with many countries around the world, the current FCO advise is against all but essential travel to Egypt.  This means that not all travel insurance companies will cover you however there are still some that will including Stay Sure and Dive Assure.

It is your responsibility to ensure that your insurance covers you for the treatment of Covid-19, covers you to travel to Egypt during the current FCO advise and covers you for the diving you intend to do.  We have a disclaimer which we will share with you at the time of booking.

To reassure you, our Tour Operator Liability 3rd party indemnity insurance remains in place and is still valid, for any non Covid-19 related incidents, for customers travelling to Egypt during this time.

Covid-19 PCR Test

From 1 September, all persons (including those who hold Egyptian nationality) arriving from overseas, to any part of Egypt, will be required to present a negative PCR test certificate on arrival, and an indication of when the test was taken. The Egyptian authorities have advised that PCR tests must be conducted no more than 72 hours prior to flight departure.  There are a number of private companies that offer express PCR tests.  If you are unable to arrange a PCR test before departure, you can be tested upon arrival at Hurghada airport (subject to availability) – please see the section below for further details entitled ‘In Resort – Covid-19 PCR Test’.

At the Airport

Due to additional health screening checks and social distancing rules, queues at the airport are more likely than before and we therefore recommend you arrive at least 3 hours prior to departure.  Not all airport facilities, shops and restaurants are available, we recommend checking your departure airports website for accurate information.

On the Plane

Each airline has their own rules and guidelines for flying with them.  We recommend you check your airlines website for information on a regular basis before you travel to keep up to date with the conditions of carriage.

In Resort

Covid-19 PCR Test

Blue O Two strongly recommend that a PCR test is completed prior to travel as per the entry requirements to Egypt, however, should this not be possible, PCR tests can be done at Hurghada airport for a fee, subject to availability.  Should you receive a test at the airport, you will need to request to receive notification of a negative test.

Boarding the Liveaboard

You will be met by our friendly team at the airport where you will be taken to the coach to be transferred to the vessel to start your holiday.  During the transfer, you will be required to wear a mask at all times.  Upon arrival at the boat, your temperature will be taken and recorded, and all shoes and baggage will be disinfected as per operational requirements.  You will be asked to show proof of a negative PCR test to the team. If you are awaiting results of a PCR test, you are required to wear a mask at all times.

Returning Home

Please ensure that you follow government advice and guidelines upon returning home.  Please go to the Government Advice Website to view the guidelines.
