We’re so pleased to be partnering with the Nautilus team again and talking about Guadalupe, Mexico. With them, we’ll bring you new and exciting itineraries. If, like Nick Jones our Head of Design, you crave adventure and thrills, then this is the itinerary for you. Read on to discover the adrenaline-filled diving to be had in Guadalupe, Mexico.
Guadalupe Mexico is home to the great white shark. This is not an itinerary for colourful reefs, schools of fish, and time to take nice macro photographs. It is all about the great white shark. You will be offered virtually unlimited diving within both submerged and surface cages. There are two shark surface platforms – ensuring you see lots of surface activity too.
You will be joining the crew on the newest and largest Nautilus liveaboard the Belle Amie. She can be compared to a five-star floating boutique hotel with spacious salon and dining areas, as well as a second open-aired bar on the sun deck and of course a hot tub.
Guadalupe is a rocky and extinct volcanic island. It is 17 miles long, north to south, and six miles wide. It has a population of just over 200 people, including goat farmers, fishermen, and Navy personnel. The island is inhabited by over 10,000 Guadalupe fur seals, which are the main attraction for the sharks. It has been a seal sanctuary since 1975 and is a designated biosphere reserve.
If you’re looking for a full-on adventure to kick start your return to diving this could be the itinerary for you too.
Hear what Nick has to say…
“I’ve always loved getting the adrenalin pumping and what better way than getting in the water with an apex predator.
My fascination and respect for sharks goes back to my childhood. Diving with the often misunderstood and notorious great white has always been at the top of my bucket–list. Guadalupe Island is considered the top destination for great white shark encounters around the world. As this is a bucket-list holiday, I’d also add the new trip extension which includes a glamping experience on the shores of San Ignacio Lagoon in Baja California. The extension gives you the chance to get up close and personal with gray whales in the warm shallow waters of the lagoon. Star gazing, fire pits, hot tubs and whale watching – seems like the perfect way to end an adrenalin fuelled holiday of a lifetime to me!
Awe-inspiring face-to-face experiences with 16ft great white sharks, virtually unlimited dive-time, clear blue water, whale watching, glamping in the desert sipping a beer under the stars… This trip sounds epic.”
